Carnival of Quebec

Tis the first day of Quebec's annual winter festival!
Ready to enchant everyone for 2007, the biggest winter carnival in the world starts up today (ending February 11th) in the heart of ole Québec City. A snowman called Bonhomme Carnaval is the official ambassador and celebrity personality of Carnaval de Québec and leads the way in spreading magic and joy to all revellers.

"The first large winter Carnival in Quebec, the world's snow capital, took place in 1894.... The city's population was often put to the test by winter's hardships, and brought this popular tradition to life by inventing the winter party that warmed up the hearts of all it revellers"

A feast for the senses and spirit... and a definite treat for the inner child in all of us.

Heaps of activities for all to experience...
The plains of Abraham are transformed into a giant outdoor museum where sculptors from around the world come to give life to blocks of snow and ice. "Each year, at least one of those teams has never experienced sculpting with snow and even more, has never seen snow"
Welcome to a winter wonderland...
